FROTHY ORANGE JULIUS

It's so crazy. In our province the teachers are on strike. The kids might only have 2 more days of school if it continues...Them teachers want more money, which is totally understandable since they get paid way less then our neighbour province. But the only think I am not digging is the fact that the teachers are USING the kids to get what they want. They say they want smaller class sizes so kids can have more one-on-one time with the teachers so they can all learn more. But it's honestly up to each student to learn. They need to pay attention and learn. The class sizes were the same size when I was a kid and every kid got equal attention. If anything the teachers want smaller class sizes so they have less responsibility. Teachers...just say you want a raise but leave the kids out of it. Even my son's teacher is getting his class to write a letter to the government saying how the kids want the strike to end...sign a better contract....give me a break! I need a frothy orange julius....

( I clearly don't know enough to really debate more on the subject of the strike. This is only what I'm hearing and how it's effecting our family)

This is, without a doubt, the easiest, the most yummy spring time drink I've consumed in a long time. Sure you could go pay for your typical orange julius at the famous drink bar but why do that when you can drink this baby, at home, in the warm sunshine (and pay half the cost)! Make sure you double or triple or quadruple this recipe if you want to share. This would make an awesome punch recipe for your next family BBQ.

Orange Creamsicle Shake
An easy, delicious drink, made in minutes. Perfect for pleasing friends.

Serves 1
  • 1 navel orange, peeled
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk beverage or homemade almond milk
  • 3 drops orange liquid stevia (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
  • 4 ice cubes

1. Add ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until smooth, around 40 seconds. Serve immediately.

2. For a pulp-free shake – Blend without ice, strain with a fine mesh sieve or tea strainer, blend again with ice. Serve immediately.
