NATURAL BIRTH STORY - BEING A MOMMY AGAIN

My Healthy Natural Birth Story

My last pregnancy photo, 38 weeks!

Kyri was 10 days early. Born on Feb 25th at 11:28 AM. I had her at home in a pool. It was the best experience of our lives! I made she during pregnancy that I was active and the healthiest I could be for our little baby! We thought we were having a boy. But we were wrong!! There was definitely a beautiful baby girl in there!
On Feb 24th we had Tod's parents over for dinner and they cooked! They made homemade veggie burgers. At the dinner table Chloe said 'I bet you $50 you go into labour tonight! I just have a feeling...' I said no way and she changed her bet to a dollar and I said sure. Later that night around 9 I felt the baby drop. I told Tod cuz it honestly felt so low. Then he went to bed. I started my wedding page blog on here and when I was almost done my water broke! I hadn't had any pains that day at all. 'I guess I owe Chloe a dollar' I said. I was so excited, Tod didn't believe me when I said my water broke. I made him get out of bed and call Teralee, our wonderful midwife, while I cleaned the water trail from the computer to the bathroom. Teralee came over with a couple bags and congratulated me and started getting our bedroom ready for the amazing water birth that was about to take place. At that time I called my mom to pick up Seth. Teralee checked to see how far along I was....I wasn't even 2cm dilated and then she said 'Try to get some sleep!' I was like ....are you kidding me? I had crazy hormones flying everywhere. There is no way I'm getting any sleep! I think I got maybe 3 hours of sleep that night until I started to feel contractions around 5:30am on the morning of Feb 25th. I started recording them and they were 4 minutes apart just like Teralee wanted. So we called her and she came back over. She hung out with us at the house for a while and checked to see how dilated I was. I hadn't moved a millimetre!! So she went back home and got some more sleep. Chloe woke up at 7:30 super excited. She had a  huge dance competition that day. I was sad I didn't get to see it but much bigger things were happening! Around 9:30 we called Teralee back over to bring me THE TEA! haha this stuff is so potent that even woman who aren't pregnant get contractions just by smelling it! CRAZY!!!I jumped into the shower and tried to focus on my breathing. The pain was getting bad but I was still chipper between contractions. After I got out Tod had the tea ready for me. I think I drank two small sips and then just like that my contractions were getting worse and worse by the minute. 'CALL TERALEE AGAIN!!!' I demanded as I went to lie down on the bed. My contractions were so crazy, there was no start or end to them anymore. It was just pain and me heaving like a wild animal. My arms and my legs went numb. I was not enjoying this position at all. I had the pillows holding me up a bit as if I were in a hospital bed. Teralee arrived with her assistant Shannon. She checked to see how dilated I was. I yelled 'FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IT MUST BE AT 10!' She said that I was only at 4cm but if I had to push I could. I told Tod I wanted go get in the pool so they all helped me get in. It was honestly like night and day! The pain went away by half! I was able to focus, breathe and calm down between contractions. I think I was in the pool for about 25 minutes listening to Teralee's soft voice, guiding me on how to breathe and push. It was hard work and at one point I think I sounded like Bella from Twilight, when she turns into a vampire. Scary I know! But after she came out and the put her on top of me it was like none of it ever happened. I had her on my chest and she lifted her little head and sighed. No crying. They even pinched her foot and tried to make her cry but she didn't. Teralee said 'What is it?' I'm like 'What?' 'The sex? What is the sex of the baby?' I'm like 'Omg!!' So Tod checked and it was a girl! Of course she was a girl! She was 6lbs 7 oz and beautiful and healthy! She was a long baby too. Her first poop was on daddy's chest half an hour later! haha

Right now my life consists of barf, poopy diapers, gas smiles, crying, laundry, and running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. I'm just kidding it's not that bad. I get to sleep when Kyri sleeps... if I want.

Kyrsten - 1 week old

Isn't she precious! She has been really good. I have been trying not to eat the LONG list of foods that www.babycenter.ca says not to eat while breastfeeding, such as cabbage, chocolate, garlic, onion, coffee, spices like chili, curry and cayenne, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, red pepper, citrus fruits like oranges, strawberries, pineapple, limes, and lemons, dairy ...shall I continue? I wish someone had reminded me during pregnancy that 'you cant have chocolate while your breastfeeding... so eats lots now while your pregnant'! I ate garlic one day and the next day she screamed like she was in pain for 15 minutes straight so I'm not eating garlic again!

Our kids. Seth is 6, Kyrsten is 3 weeks old and Chloe, my step-daughter, is 11.

Seth and Chloe are so great together. Chloe will be able to help babysit soon, after she takes her baby sitting course :) OH HAPPY DAY! Chloe and Seth love their baby sitter. They are so helpful. They play with her and are so gentle. They love to hold her and sing her songs.

Kyri 5 weeks old

I gave birth 6 weeks ago and finally I get to go back to the gym tonight! My husband Tod is watching the kids :) I should really take a before and after picture of my belly! It's still flabby from being pregnant, of course.

I got my body back at 6 months, working out twice a week, walking daily and sticking to a strict healthy lifestyle. Kyri had gas for 3 months and after that she was fine and I could eat whatever I wanted, except beans. They kept her up at night tooting away. She is so beautiful and is the light of our lives. We are so happy so came into our family.
