BEAUTIFUL SEPTEMBER - KIDS GOING BACK TO SCHOOL

September is such a hectic month for a family. Going back to school, college, or maybe it's their first time going to school or pre-school, it all can get a bit overwhelming. Making sure you have all the right books, a back pack, clothes, shoes, pens & pencils, lock for your locker, and don't forget to turn your brain back on after the summer holidays. I don't miss those days. Waking back up at 7AM and trying to get the new baby in a new routine, THAT is what I'm not looking forward too. But us moms...we gotta do it! I like driving the kids to school. There first full day of school was today.

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. Psalm 18:30

One of my goals this month was to get Kyri a great used crib and we did! Last night. We went on a nice long drive. I love living on the Island. We have some pretty amazing views of the ocean and mountains over on the mainland. Kyri's crib is a dark wood crib. It had one scratch on it but that is okay. One of the reasons why we liked to buy used is because the product has 'off gassed' already and we don't need to worry about our sweet baby breathing in all those toxic fumes.

“Off-gassing” refers to the evaporation of synthetic compounds used in manufacturing a host of products, from cars to computers and toys to tennis balls. Two of the most identifiable types of off-gassing are the telltale “new car” and “new carpet” smells. Adhesives, wallpaper, and paints are other common offenders. Off-gassing can also be odourless.Triphenyl phosphate is a flame retardant that's added to many plastics. Low levels of formaldehyde, a colourless and sharp-smelling gas, can also accumulate indoors from construction materials and household products like new furniture, cabinetry, and floor coverings. Some studies have suggested that people who are exposed to formaldehyde for long periods are more likely to experience asthma-related respiratory symptoms, such as coughing and wheezing. Formaldehyde also comes from paints, varnishes, and floor finishes. Other common household items that off-gas with little to no odour include bedding, furniture, and cabinetry.

10 weeks is the recommended time to let products, such as baby cribs and mattresses, off gas before they are used. Another reason why we like to buy used is because we don't like to see things go to waste. We aren't hoarders by any means, we just like to see nice things get re-used. Also used products are cheaper!

I watched this video on facebook, link here, of a guy flying and the wing fell off and I laughed so hard I am now crying. Oh man...Tod thinks I have lost my mind. haha I love laughing that hard! I don't know why I thought it was so funny. When the guy says, "Where's his right wing? He just left his wing!" he says it so casually that it made me laugh and then the "RUN" haha I'm going to watch it again..... Yup I've lost my mind. It's still funny. It's super fake though but I obviously got a kick out of it!!
